Dubai Builds World’s Highest Outdoor Infinity Pool

An outdoor infinity pool in the city of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates has broken the Guinness World Record for being the highest in the world. But you might be afraid to swim in it!

At nearly 294 metres above the ground, the pool is on the 77th floor of the Address Beach Resort, one of Dubai’s newest skyscrapers.

Swimmers get some amazing views of famous buildings like the Burj Al Arab hotel, as well as The World Islands and the Palm Jumeirah on Dubai’s coast.

At nearly 95 metres, the pool is almost as long as two Olympic-size swimming pools, and is 16.5 metres wide.

The pool is for resort guests only. But those who don’t want to book a room can book a table at the Zeta Seventy Seven restaurant, which is on the same floor as the pool, to at least enjoy the same view. The restaurant menu includes oysters, lobsters and wagyu beef served with a view over the Persian Gulf.

The Address Beach Resort’s infinity pool joins other high pools like Singapore’s 200 metre high Marina Bay Sands infinity pool, and the indoor pool on the 118th floor of the International Commerce Center in Hong Kong, at almost 469 metres high, it’s the world’s highest swimming pool inside a building.

While not nearly as high, a new transparent swimming pool also recently opened in South London. It was built about 35 metres above the ground between two apartment buildings. A woman who lives in one of the buildings told the Evening Standard that swimming in the transparent pool was like “floating in air.”
