Chengdu

Chengdu is the capital of southwestern China’s Sichuan province.

Its history dates back to at least the 4th century B.C. This was when it served as capital for the Shu Kingdom. Artifacts from that dynasty are the focus of the Jinsha Site Museum. The city is also home to the famous Research Base for Giant Panda Breeding. This unique conservation centre is where visitors can view endangered giant pandas in their natural habitat.

The city was also well known for its refined culture and display of luxury. Throughout history it has remained a great city and a major administrative centre, and has been the capital of Sichuan since 1368.
