British Airways has 18 firm orders for the Airbus A350-1000, this is the aircraft favoured by Qatar Airways. When the first Airbus A380 was delivered to British Airways back in 2013, the occasion was marked with big fuss and ceremony. Now, it looks like similar celebrations will be given to the A350s being delivered in British Airways centenary year.
While British Airways has said it will repaint some older aircraft in the BOAC livery.
The new Airbus baby will be delivered in the airline’s current livery.
One hundred years ago on August 25th 1919, the original British Airways predecessor. B.O.A.C. launched its first daily service in the world. This was scheduled between London and Paris.
The first Airbus A350-1000 routes are intended to replace the 52 Club World seat Boeing 747 which is heavily deployed on North American routes such as Las Vegas, Miami and Phoenix. There will be no First Class on the Airbus A350-1000. British Airways has not given an exact breakdown by cabin, but there will be 331 seats on the new aircraft. In comparison to an Iberia A350-900 has 348 seats.
British Airways released the following statement:
“This will be alongside other key announcements, including the introduction of the A350 to the fleet, a new business class seat, investment in the airline’s cabins including First and World Traveller Plus, improvements to lounges across the network and new routes including Osaka, Charleston, Pittsburgh and Islamabad.”
